Plastic Surgery Training

Dr. Sproule graduated from medical school in 1980 from the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. During his medical school years, he electively trained at Guy's Hospital in London, England, and also at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, USA, where he worked extensively with severe burn victims, an experience that motivated him to continue training in Plastic Surgery.He followed this with a rotating Internship at St. Joseph's Hospital in London, Ontario in 1980-81, and then returned to Edmonton to complete a residency and a fellowship in Plastic Surgery.

After receiving his Specialty Certification (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgery, Canada, or FRCSC) in Plastic Surgery in 1985, he traveled to Scotland, where he spent 1½ years training at the West of Scotland Plastic and Oral Surgery Unit based at Canniesburn Hospital in Glasgow, learning advanced techniques in many subspecialty areas of Plastic Surgery, along with fellows from around the world

Academic Appointments

Dr. Sproule holds a position as a lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery, at the University of Toronto.He is the Director of the Multidisiplinary Maxillofacial Unit at the General division of the Scarborough Hospital.He also acts as an International Visiting Professor for the American ogranization, Interplast. Reconstructive Surgery

Dr. Sproule has clinical appointments at the Scarborough Hospital, where the majority of his reconstructive cases are managed, and also has courtesy appointments at the Rouge Valley Health Authority and at the amalgamated Sunnybrook/Women's College Hospitals. His caseload includes sophisticated microvascular reconstructions, maxillofacial surgery, pediatric surgery, hand surgery, breast reconstruction, and a large volume of other procedures.

Cosmetic Surgery

Dr. Sproule has a very busy cosmetic surgery practice, performing a wide variety of aesthetic enhancements on both the face and the body. Included are nose reshaping, eyelid enhancement, facelifts, liposuction, tummytucks, breast enhancement, and a variety of laser procedures.As part of the teaching faculty of the University of Toronto,

Dr. Sproule lectures on laser physics and surgery techniques to trainees in multiple surgical disciplines at University of Toronto. He uses several different types of lasers to treat a variety of problems, inlcuding wrinkle and acne scar removal, removal of birthmarks and tattoos and laser hair removal.
